Please pray for the children and staff of Kafue Christian Academy and the children we serve across Zambia.
Here is what we know:
-
Zambia’s recent outbreak of cholera, an acute diarrheal disease transmitted through contaminated food and water, which we are sad to report continues to worsen.
-
As of Friday, January 13th, there have been over 8700 reported cases in Zambia since the outbreak began in October 2023, 333 deaths, and over 1000 people currently admitted to hospitals and torment centers for cholera.
-
Zambian schools, including Kafue Christina Academy, have delayed the start of the 2024 school year for several weeks as a safety precaution.
-
Though we have not heard of any cases among our students, we are preparing for any future outbreaks. Our staff is having a water filters installed in both schools, training teachers, and engaging our contract nurse. She will meet caretakers in small groups, and bring safety awareness and disruption information.
-
We are asking for 91 people over the next 30 days to join us in vigilantly praying for God to contain and extinguish this outbreak, protect our staff and students, and provide wisdom for leadership.
